Superpunch Chat is a quick and easy way to keep in touch with your team members. In order to chat internally, you will need to use Superpunch Chat, unless your Supervisor has advised otherwise.
Not all programs in Superpunch are using Superpunch Chat.
If you are supposed to have chat and you don't see the link in Superpunch you can...
- Clear your cookies, log out of Superpunch and back in.
- If that doesn't work, reach out to your TL who can contact GSD.
If your program doesn't use Superpunch Chat and you think they should, tell your leadership team!
Your chat channels and direct message access are automatically configured based on your Superpunch profile. For example:
- A direct message with your immediate Supervisor,
- A channel with everyone on your supervisor's team, and
- Some channels particularly for your program and job.
Additionally, you can create new DMs or Channels with people on your program.

If you are not logged in automatically you can use the same username and password you use to log into Superpunch.
What are Channels?
- Channels are how group chat rooms are organized in Superpunch Chat. Some may also refer to them as rooms.
- Your job code(s) in Superpunch will determine which channels you will be set up with.
I think I'm missing a Channel. What should I do?
- Check your client, line of business, job code(s), and supervisor in your Superpunch user profile to ensure they are correct.
- If any are incorrect, adjust them as needed and submit them for approval to your Supervisor.
- If you are still missing a Channel, check with your Supervisor. They can add you to the Channel.
- If you are a Supervisor and are still having issues, contact GSD for assistance.
How can I see who is part of a Channel?
- Select the Information icon
to access the chat "Details".
- Select the Members dropdown menu.
- Select View All.
- If the list is long, there is a search feature at the bottom to help find a particular user.
I have so many channels, how can I organize them?
- You can move your favorite or most used channels into the starred section.
- Hover over a channel and select the ... menu or open the info panel (i) for the channel.

Can I see a list of all files or images that have been shared in a channel?
- Select the Information icon
to access the chat "Details".
- Select the Files dropdown menu.

Can I create a new channel?
- Any user can select the + symbol beside "Channels" or "Direct Messages" in Superpunch Chat to create a new channel.
- Channels can be given a name and description and can be edited.
- If a Superpunch user without the Supervisor role creates a channel that doesn’t include at least one Supervisor, then the creator's Supervisor will be added automatically (HR requirement).

How do I Direct Message someone?
- Select any Name in your "Direct Messages" section to start chatting.
- Any user can select the + Symbol button beside "Direct Messages" in Superpunch Chat to create a new DM.

Can I reply directly to a message?
- You can start a thread by hovering over a message and selecting the Expand ... menu.

Can I notify someone of a message?
- To get someone’s attention, enter @username (username is their Chat/Superpunch username).
- If you aren’t sure what their username is (usually either first initial last name or first name.last name), you can start typing it and the autocomplete will help you out.
- Use Tab key on your keyboard to finish the autocomplete.
Can I share a picture or file?
To share/attach a file (including pictures):
- Select the Paperclip icon at the far right of the "Type a Message" field.
- Select the File (saved on your computer).
- Select Open.
- Select Add File.

Can I add formatting to a message?
- You can add bold, italics, or strikethrough by opening the text formatting options (Aa in the message box).

Oops, I made a mistake. Can I edit or delete a message?
- Once a message is sent, you have two minutes to edit it.
- Hover over your message and click the Expand ... menu.
- Select Edit.
- Make your changes.
- Once the 2-minute window is up no changes can be made.
- You can also reply to your own message if you want to clarify something.

Can I React to someone’s message?
- Hover over a message you'd like to react to.
- Select Emoji icon
.
- Select an Emoji.
- If someone else has already reacted with the emoji you want to use, simply select their Reaction to add yours to it.
- To remove your reaction, simply select your Emoji icon just below the message to remove it.

Can I add a profile photo?
To add a work-appropriate profile picture:
- Open the Superpunch mobile app.
- Tap your Profile Picture.
- Tap Edit/Pencil icon next to your profile picture.
- Select Take Photo or Choose Existing Photo.
- Select Allow if prompted.
- Select the new profile picture you would like to use.
- Select Crop.

Can I change how and when I get notifications?
To manage your chat notification settings:
- Select the Information icon
to access the chat "Details".
- Select Options.
- Select your preferred notification setting for the channel (All Messages, Mentions Only, or Mute).
