Superpunch Chat - Create a New Chat

Create a Channel

Any Superpunch Chat user can create a new channel or new direct message.

To create a new channel:

1. Log into Superpunch Chat.
2. Either:  a) select the "+Create New" button in the top banner or b) Select the three dot ... expand icon  to the right of "Channels".
3. Select "Create New Channel"
4. Enter a name for the new channel in the "Channel Name" field.
5. Enter a description for the new channel in the "Channel Description" field.
6. Enter the username(s) of who should be included in the channel in the "Users" field or use the dropdown arrow to display  and select.
7. Select Create Channel.

Notes:

• Channels can be given a name and description.
• Direct messages are named after the users in the DM. If a DM has more than 2 people it can also be given a name.

• If a Superpunch user without the Supervisor role creates a Channel or DM that doesn’t include at least one supervisor, then the creator's supervisor will be added automatically (HR requirement). See this article for more information on Chat Restrictions.

Create a Direct Message

To create a new Direct Message, follow these steps:

1. Log into Superpunch Chat.
2. Either:  a) select the "+Create New" button in the top banner or b) Select the three dot ... expand icon  to the right of "Channels".
3. Select "New Direct Message".
4. Enter the user name(s) of who should be included in the direct message in the "Users" to: field.
5. Type your message in the message field.
6. Select the "Send" button.

Direct messages must have more then two users in order for you to be able to give it a name, otherwise Direct Messages are named after the users in the DM. For information on renaming chats see this article.

If a Superpunch user without the Supervisor role creates a Channel or DM that doesn’t include at least one supervisor, then the creator's supervisor will be added automatically (HR requirement). See Chat Restrictions for more information on Chat Restrictions.

Changing a Channel Name

To change a Channel Name, follow these steps:

1. Log into Superpunch Chat.
2. Select the Information icon to access the chat "Details".
3. Select Edit.
4. Type the new name in the underlined area right above the edit button .
5. Select the Check Mark to the right of the new Chat Name to save your changes.

Add Users

To Add a User, follow these steps:

1. Log into Superpunch Chat.
2. Select the Information icon to access the chat "Details".
3. Expand the Members section
4. Select +Add member and search for the user you wish to add to the chat.  
5. To confirm a member select the check mark icon.
6. They should now be visible in the members list.
